Decatur Fire Station #2
Decatur, Texas
Project Overview
An expansive 26,000-square-foot facility designed to consolidate essential fire functions under one roof for a rapidly growing community. FDCS served as the owner’s representative, managing the project from schematic design through construction to achieve maximum operational efficiency, structural resilience, and a commanding community presence.
Key Deliverables
Pre-Construction & Budget Strategy: Managed schematic design and rigorous pricing reviews during the GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) phase to keep this large-scale project aligned with the established budget.
Operational Readiness & Security: Oversaw the construction of three drive-thru equipment bays engineered for rapid response, alongside an ICC 500-compliant storm shelter to protect the 12 live-in personnel during severe weather.
Personnel-Centric Design: Validated the functionality of the residential wing—including a full-service kitchen and modern accommodations—to support first responder health and long-term readiness.
Project Realization: Served as the central technical link between municipal leadership, the design team, and the construction manager, enforcing quality compliance and maintaining schedule alignment.
